Wine Country

Orheiul Vechi

Current advisory: The U.S. Department of State lists Moldova at Level 2 – Exercise Increased

Caution as of July 7, 2026, citing unrest and other risks, including unexploded-ordnance risk in

some areas. It advises reconsidering travel to Transnistria because of the risk of armed conflict.

For practical trip planning, treat Transnistria as a separate high-risk decision rather than a routine

add-on. Monitor official advisories before departure and during the trip.

Entry: Visa rules depend on nationality. Check Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa-regime

page for your passport before booking. The U.S. advisory currently states that U.S. tourists do not

need a visa for stays of 90 days or less in any 180-day period, but other nationalities can differ.

Money: The Moldovan leu (MDL) is the official currency. Cards are widely accepted in urban areas,
